The training academy aims to equip public officers with the mindset and capabilities to design digital services around citizens’ needs, while keeping in mind data protection and cybersecurity.
The Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) Singapore has announced a new Institute of Digital Government (IDG) training academy, which is set to launch in Q3 2026.
The IDG training academy, announced at the Committee of Supply (COS) debates 2026 on 2 March 2026, aims to equip more than 150,000 public officers with digital, data, and AI capabilities to design citizen-centric solutions and implement new technologies safely, while safeguarding personal data and strengthening cybersecurity.
Working alongside the Civil Service College (CSC), the IDG will cultivate the right mindset and skillsets in every officer through completing mandatory foundational modules that cover:
- Cybersecurity,
- Data protection, and
- AI literacy.
With these modules, the goal is for each officer to be equipped with the essential knowledge required to operate effectively in the digital government environment.
The Institute will design and deliver curricula aligned with the Government’s digital priorities, covering core competencies and structured pathways aimed at developing digital mastery. In addition, targeted courses in areas such as product thinking, data governance, and artificial intelligence applications will be open to all public officers.
The above aside, the Institute will also integrate leadership training components to ensure that senior officers can guide their teams and agencies through the evolving digital landscape.
More details on the IDG will be announced in due course.
