1 Sep to be a state holiday in Selangor following SUKMA 2026 achievement

Selangor, the host for the 2026 games, was officially crowned the overall champion with a total of 101 gold, 73 silver, and 71 bronze medals.

Selangor's Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has declared 1 September 2026 a state holiday, following the state contingent's success in the recent 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA). 

Announcing this at the closing ceremony on Monday (24 August), Datuk Seri Amirudin called it a token of appreciation towards the contingent and the achievement.

Selangor, the host for the 2026 games, was officially crowned the overall champion with a total of 101 gold, 73 silver, and 71 bronze medals. The Federal Territories came in second place with a total of 51 gold, 54 silver, and 52 bronze medals, while Terengganu rounded up the top three with a total of 43 gold, 44 silver, and 36 bronze medals.
