Malaysia amongst the 5 best retirement destinations globally

According to the latest International Living Global Retirement Index 2018, Malaysia was ranked 5th on the best places to retire.

In the report, International Living said: “The country’s diverse ethnic mix makes being a stranger here easy. Whether you live in bohemian Penang or Kuala Lumpur, the country’s hip capital, you’ll meet friendly locals who are happy to stop and chat and welcome you into their home.”

“People are accepting—just ask the international mix of expats all on the same journey as you—and happy to share,” it shared.

Furthermore, it makes a great destination for those looking for an affordable retirement. International Living Malaysia correspondent, Keith Hockton said: “A couple can live in Penang comfortably for USD$1,450 a month, including rent. My three-bedroom, two-bathroom, 2,195-square-foot apartment is five minutes from George Town.”

He also shared that his wife and him pay $700 a month for that. He added: “We live in the leafy, up-market consulate suburb of Pulau Tikus; it’s just a seven-minute stroll from the ritzy Gurney Plaza shopping center. You can find cheaper, too—as little as $300 a month for a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, fully furnished place.”
