HR job moves from CÉ LA VI, Pinsent Masons, Recruitz Agency and more

Here are the major promotions and job moves in the world of HR for this week.

HR practitioner appointments

Shradha Chopra is VP, human resources, APAC at BNP Paribas Shradha Chopra has been appointed by BNP Paribas to the role effective July 2017. This role sees the HR expert moving away from her previous organisation - CEB, now Gartner - where she has been for about 10 years, most recently as research director, HR practice - Asia. She holds a B.A. (Hons) in economics from Delhi University and is currently based in Singapore.

Ivy Chan is head of human resources at CÉ LA VI Hong Kong Having joined CÉ LA VI Hong Kong in 2015 in the role of human resources manager, Chan has been promoted by the organisation to the role of head of human resources, effective July 2017. Prior to joining CÉ LA VI Hong Kong, she was a human resources manager at Dorrsett Kwun Tong, Hong Kong & Dorsett Regency Hotel. She will be based in Hong Kong.

Sofia Nordengren has joined Pinsent Masons Nordengren joined the law firm in September 2017 in the role of learning and development manager APAC, moving away from her previous role as head of learning and development APAC at Capco. Prior to that, Nordengren was with The University of Hong Kong as a researcher in public international law. She is currently based in Hong Kong.

SWIFT welcomes Calvin D'souza to its talent acquisition team D'souza was appointed to the role of talent acquisition team lead, APAC by the financial services firm effective August 2017. This sees him moving away from his previous role of regional recruitment manager, APAC at BNY Mellon. With this new role, D'souza will remain based in Hong Kong.

HKT has promoted Lemon Wong Ching Ha Effective August 2017, Wong has been promoted from assistant human resources manager, to the role of human resources manager, by the telecommunications firm. Prior to joining the firm, Wong was the senior officer of talent management and co-owner of HKBN. Wong will remain based in Hong Kong.

Jacky Cheung moved to AdAsia Holdings Previously the talent acquisition manager for digital/PR, Greater China at Ketchum,in September 2017, Cheung joined AdAsia Holdings as the marketing and advertising firm’s human resources manager. He will remain based in Hong Kong. Prior to his role at Ketchum, he was a senior consultant for the PR sector at Become Recruitment, Hong Kong.

On his new role, Chrung told Human Resources: "I will be in charge of assisting the growth of the Hong Kong, Taiwan and Shanghai office. I will also be assisting in branding AdAsia within the market."

"Our priorities for this year is to develop the business further within the Asia region and bring in tech and digital analysis to the advertising space. We aim to provide deeper digital solutions through Ad tech and AI."

Sandy Lam has been promoted by Hospital Authority Lam was promoted in August 2017 from the role of assistant HR manager, to the role of human resources manager. Lam joined the company in 2011 as an HR officer after graduating from the City University of Hong Kong with a bachelor of business administration, human resources management. Lam will remain based in Hong Kong.

Ambi Labs welcomes Eliza Kwok to their HR team Previously an APAC recruiter for Nutanix, Kwok has joined Ambi Labs in September 2017 to serve as the consumer electronics firm’s HR and talent acquisition manager. Prior to being with Nutanix, Lam was the talent acquisition specialist, APAC at Juniper Networks. She remains based in Hong Kong.

Nina Kasmal is recruitment manager at Teleperformance Malaysia Effective September 2017, Kasmal joined the outsourced omnichannel customer experience management firm as a recruitment manager. Prior to that, she was with FOS Search (A Career International Company) for two years, first as the SEA talent acquisition partner - RPO for Honeywell, and most recently as SEA senior talent sourcing specialist. She will remain based in Malaysia.

Cathay Pacific Airways promotes Christy Choi Having been with the company since 2014, Choi was promoted from the role of recruitment consultant, to the role of talent acquisition manager - services deliver, effective August 2017. Prior to joining the flag carrier of Hong Kong, Choi was with Experis - ManpowerGroup as a consultant - ICT division. Choi will remain based in Hong Kong.


HR solutions provider appointments

Willis Towers Watson appoints Vivek Nath as Singapore country head Nath has been with the organisation, i.e. the former Watson Wyatt, since May 2006. He has served a number of geographies since, including Kuala Lumpur, Gurgaon, and Singapore, where his most recent role is as head of South Asia (SEA and India) – which he continues alongside the new responsibility. In his continuing role as head of South Asia, Nath will lead the firm’s businesses across markets while overseeing strategy and managing relationships with key clients across the Southeast Asia region.

Accenture appoints a new APAC communications and media industry lead Accenture has appointed Giorgio Migliarina as communications and media industry lead for Asia Pacific, effective 27 August 2017. In his new role, Migliarina is responsible for business development and operations in the region and for helping clients shape and deliver large-scale company transformation programs. Migliarina joined Accenture from Telekom Malaysia, where he spent eight years as chief technology and innovation officer in charge of network, information technology (IT) and research and development departments.

Charles Shao joins Korn Ferry Hay Group as a senior client partner Korn Ferry has appointed Charles Shao as a senior client partner, based out of the Beijing office. Prior to joining Korn Ferry Hay Group, Shao was global head of learning and development for Caterpillar Inc. There, he was responsible for building and executing Caterpillar enterprise learning and development strategy worldwide to enable sustainable business success and to support the personal growth of over 100,000 employees.

CXC Global New Country Manager for Malaysia Effective August 2018, Desmond Anthony Raj has been appointed as the new country manager for CXC Global Malaysia. In his current role, Desmond will be focusing in the development of new business avenues for CXC Global specifically in the areas of contingent workforce, global mobility, managed services and payroll outsourcing. He will be working together with companies and their HR, procurement and talent management leadership teams to reduce the costs, complexities and risks associated with the management of contingent workforce & gig workers. Prior to joining the recruitment company, he was the regional director, Asia at Global Certifications, Executive Education & Coaching. Raj will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Miranda Choi is the assistant vice president at Recruitz Agency Based in Hong Kong, Choi has been with the recruitment agency since May 2015, where she joined as a recruitment manager. Quickly moving up the ranks, Choi was, in July 2017, promoted from the role of senior recruitment manager to the role of assistant vice president. Choi graduated from the Imperial College London with a bachelor of business administration (BBA) in human resources management/personnel administration.

Theresa Sham takes on a new role at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts Effective September 2017, Sham has been appointed to the role of director of human resources, based in Hong Kong. This sees her moving from her previous role as director of human resources, based in Beijing, China. Prior to joining Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Sham was the director of human resources as The Peninsula Shanghai.

Mohit Seth is Founder and CEO of Green Lane Talent Management A Marshall Goldsmith Certified Executive Coach, Seth founded Green Lane Talent Management in July 2017. Armed with more than 19 years of international experience, Seth has worked across a diverse range of industries including insurance with Manulife, consumer products with Carlsberg, banking with HSBC, global financial services with GE Capital, IT with Newgen Software and manufacturing with AB Electrolux. He is based out of Hong Kong.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts promotes Jason Wong In September 2017, Wong has moved up the ranks from the role of human resources officer at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts – Kerry Hotel, to the role of assistant human resources manager at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. He has been with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts since he joined in 2012 in their global corporate office as a human resources associate. Prior to that, he worked for The Peninsula Hong Kong as a contact clerk – human resources. He will remain based in Hong Kong.

Wong told Human Resources that his main focus in his new role is compensation and benefits.

Kent Tan is HR recruitment assistant manager at PwC Malaysia Having been with PwC Malaysia since 2014, Tan has been promoted from the role of HR recruitment senior executive, to the role of HR recruitment assistant manager, effective 2017. Prior to joining PwC Malaysia as an HR recruitment executive, Tan was a part time sales promoter at Hewlett-Packard. He will be based in Malaysia.
