How Coway's 'Lady in Blue' programme benefits mothers

Kyle Choi, Managing Director of Coway Malaysia, shares how the company's CODY initiative helps empower women by better enabling them to balance their time between their jobs and families.

With the unpredictable rise and fall of the global economy, having a steady income is crucial for us to not only support ourselves but to support our families as well. Hence, the importance of having a job as well as having the opportunity to excel in our selected career.

Being a woman is not easy. Although it has its perks, more often than not, roadblocks are faced especially in the corporate world that is full of preconceptions. While there is no doubt women can be successful, strong and independent, I strongly believe that the corporate world should better discover women's capabilities and recognise their achievements in every role they play.

A woman's role has changed tremendously and is making its greatest impact in our society today. Therefore, established organisations need to provide these women opportunities that will give them a chance to improve their lives. As they say, "a helping hand to make the world a better place".

At Coway, we always believe in equal opportunity for all women regardless of your marital status. What matters is the commitment to learn, to grow and most importantly, to serve from the heart.

Hence the lady in blue. Have you heard of the Lady in Blue? They are Coway Ladies, or better known as CODY.

CODY is a team of women who specialise in servicing Coway's appliances. This is an opportunity for women to have a professional growing career, expanding their connections and get rewarded for their efforts. The harder you work, the better the reward.

Most mothers often face a challenge of having to balance their career while looking after their child. This is especially so for single mothers who do not have a partner to assist them with looking after their child while they work hard to make ends meet during their fixed hour job.

Breaking the status quo, Coway offers our CODYs a balance of both. Not only do the CODYs earn a reasonable income, they are also able to liaise with their customers to set their appointments at a timing that is suitable for both.

We want our CODYs to serve from the heart, but we know that if the mind is cluttered - worrying about their children, their families - they may not be able to carry out their career responsibilities to their best abilities. Hence, with the flexibility that Coway offers our CODYs, they can balance their time between their jobs and families.

Apart from that, to enhance the skills of our CODYs, we also provide exceptional training programmes which include skill training, self-enhancement workshops, with various other great opportunities. Coway values women as leaders and is highly motivated to bring out their power and fully encourage more women to be part of the workforce.

Most of the CODYs also build a good relationship with the families they liaise with, allowing them to work in a pleasant environment. This benefits Coway as well. With CODYs building good relationships with their customers, they are able to provide Coway with valuable consumer insights that will be significant for our R&D and products enhancement.

With opportunities to continuously grow in their career while building their confidence and having no restrictions in balancing their career and family, Coway Malaysia wants to continue providing women with work opportunities through CODY.
