Hootsuite has laid off employees from its office in Vancouver, amid reports of a "global reorganisation".
In a statement to Human Resources, Hootsuite's corporate communications manager, Sandy Pell said: "Hootsuite has completed a global reorganisation to create a simpler, more aligned business that is purpose-built to support our over 10 million customers, and scale to a multi-billion dollar enterprise."
This reorganisation has led to the employee layoffs.
"With this reorganisation, we have merged some business units and cut others, which unfortunately meant we had to transition a number of employees out of the business."
Hootsuite, however, pointed to recent leadership additions and its continued focus on social innovation, stating it is "well positioned for success".
"In fact, we will hire more than 100 people in 2016 under this new organisational structure."
The announcement, when reported in Canada-based Georgia Straight as well as Globalnews.ca, cited job cuts of 20 employees based in the firm's Vancouver operations.
In Singapore, Marketing Magazine has reported layoffs of over 40% of Hootsuite's regional team.
"While it used to comprise a full-fledged team, the Singapore office now has less than 20 staff in mainly client servicing and sales roles," it cited.
"Marketing understands that the Singapore office will continue to mainly function as a client servicing hub for the region. Meanwhile, the entire marketing team of four has been scrapped, sources confirmed."
Hootsuite’s staff in Singapore received an internal memo on 2 December with instructions to clear the premises immediately, a source told Marketing.
