Wednesday, 27 May, will be a public holiday in across Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as in Singapore.
Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore will be observing Hari Raya Aidiladha 2026 on 27 May (Wednesday), the respective religious authorities have confirmed.
The announcements were made on Sunday (17 May), following moon sightings in each country. According to NST, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Conference of Rulers, Muhammad Affendi Jalaludin said the first day of the month of Zulhijjah (1 Zulhijjah 1447H) in Malaysia begins today (Monday, 18 May), with the 10th day – which is when Hari Raya Aidiladha falls – being the 27th. A similar announcement was made by Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir, Mufti of Singapore.
Over in Indonesia, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar announced the date at a press conference on Sunday, based on results of the moon sighting at 88 points across the country. Per a KOMPAS report, the position of the crescent moon was said to have met the criteria set by the Ministers of Religious Affairs of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Meanwhile, as no crescent moon was sighted on Sunday, the Sheikul Islam Office of Thailand has declared that the country will observe Eid al-Adha on Thursday, 28 May. Per the update, cited by Thairath Online, the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah will therefore fall tomorrow (Tuesday, 19 May).
According to Bank of Thailand, a holiday will be given for financial institutions and specialised financial institution branches in the Thai towns and regions of Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Satun, and Songkhla.
