Faces of HR: Ferring Pharmaceuticals' Ozge Yurtsever on redefining resilience as clarity, not being unbreakable

"Change is an inevitable part of life — especially today, when innovation is rapid and global dynamics shift constantly. That’s why resilience is more important than ever. But resilience doesn’t mean being unbreakable," the leader stresses.

For Ozge Yurtsever, HR Head Southeast Asia, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, HR is about building resilient cultures where people feel empowered, supported, and inspired to thrive both personally and professionally. Passionate about mental health and emotional wellbeing, she champions psychologically safe workplaces through inclusive and transparent leadership that fosters trust and long-term growth.

Ozge is a globally seasoned HR leader with over a decade of experience across EMEA, Asia, and Latin America, with a career spanning strategic roles in pharma, FMCG, banking, and electronics, where she has led large-scale transformation and talent initiatives. A certified Organisational Coach and Prosci® Change Practitioner, Ozge brings a human-centered approach to HR — placing employee wellbeing, psychological safety, and inclusive leadership at the heart of organisational success.

Ahead of her session at #CorporateWellbeingAsia, she reminds us that resilience is not about being unbreakable, but about embracing change with clarity. in this interview with Sabarish Prasad.

What inspired you to pursue a career in HR? Was it a conscious choice or something you grew into?

It was a conscious decision. I started my journey in the talent acquisition space, drawn by a deep curiosity about human psychology and a genuine passion for working with people. As I progressed through different roles within HR, I found myself increasingly inspired by the impact we can have — not just on individual careers, but on the broader business.

The ability to shape culture, drive transformation, and support people through pivotal moments is what made me fall in love with HR even more.

How do you personally stay grounded and resilient, especially when you're the one supporting everyone else as HR?

It’s true — HR often leads initiatives that affect us just as much as they do others. Early in my career, I found myself asking, “Why me?” or “Why are we doing this?” But over time, I’ve learned to zoom out and see the bigger picture. Understanding the organisation’s strategy and the rationale behind decisions helps me stay grounded in the ‘why.’ It reminds me that it’s not personal — we’re all working toward the same goals.

I also believe that change, while challenging, brings growth. It pushes us to see things differently, adapt, and evolve. That mindset has been key to building resilience.

Since we're talking about personal wellness, what’s something most people wouldn’t guess about you - maybe a hidden talent or hobby?

I’m actually a certified yoga teacher! While I don’t currently teach, yoga has been a cornerstone of my personal wellness ever since I entered the corporate world. It’s helped me cultivate balance, mental clarity, and resilience — especially during high-pressure or uncertain times. It’s my way of staying centered amidst the chaos.

As a speaker at #CWA2025, what is the #1 message you'd want all invitees to take away from your session?

Change is an inevitable part of life — especially today, when innovation is rapid and global dynamics shift constantly. That’s why resilience is more important than ever. But resilience doesn’t mean being unbreakable. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed or frustrated. What matters is understanding that change isn’t personal — it’s part of progress.

"By helping our people understand the change curve and equipping them with the right skills and mindset, we empower both individuals and organisations to navigate change with confidence and clarity."
