People say the world is getting smaller, but anyone who has flown from Hong Kong to New York may have a different view. For the world’s relocation firms, the Earth’s circumference is still 40,075 km, the same as it was 100 years ago. And Tim Berners-Lee’s invention of the world wide web did not change the time it takes a cargo ship to sail from Manila to San Francisco.
Relocation may have become more common, but that doesn’t mean the physical transportation of personal effects has become any less complicated. Layered on top of the logistical challenges is the human factor (that is, the expatriate staff member and their family) which means the care of goods, timing, communication and customer service.
The Best Relocation Companies category winners and finalists at the HR Vendors of the Year 2018 awards in Singapore and Malaysia are the relocation firms that both delight expat staff and reduce the burden on their clients’ HR and mobility departments when it comes to physical transportation.
