閱讀中文版本

Vital stats: NWS Holdings, headquartered and listed in Hong Kong, invests and operates a wide range of infrastructure and services businesses in Hong Kong and across Greater China. NWS was recently awarded a gold award for Excellence in HR Structure Transformation at the HR Distinction Awards 2018, organised by Human Resources.

Q What has been the main business transformation this year?

We have been actively growing and diversifying our business portfolio, especially in the aircraft leasing industry. For example, in one year, our 50/50 joint venture company, Goshawk Aviation’s fleet size grew from 84 to 105 aircraft, while the customer base was comprised of 43 airlines in 29 countries. We also acquired Sky Aviation Leasing International, which places Goshawk as one of the top 10 aircraft lessors in the world.

Q What are the key goals of the HR team?We aim to boost staff motivation and work satisfaction, leverage group synergy, strengthen cohesion within the group and support and maintain the sustainable growth of the group.

We, as the top management, always perceive and value human capital as a key factor to success. Attracting the best talent is at the top of our agenda. Finding the right candidate who not only has the desired skill set and personality, but also aligns with our vision and core values is not easy.

Q With over 40,000 employees in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Macau, how do you retain your talent?

We have developed a staff career development and advancement scheme. As we believe providing a clear and transparent career path is the most effective thing, we have established a transparent hierarchy which facilitates swift and effective promotion, replacement and transfer decisions.

The NWS “From good to great” HR structure transformation strategy, a sustainable strategy with an emphasis on innovation, implementation, feedback and review, has successfully created a positive impact on NWS’ staff retention, productivity and company reputation. Feedback from top management, staff members as well as other stakeholders is extremely valuable for continuous improvement.
