Behind The Win: How PrimeCredit’s caring culture fosters staff super stickiness

A culture of caring and togetherness lies at the heart of PrimeCredit's staff experience strategy, supporting staffs' wellbeing, growth, and sense of belonging both at work and beyond.

This article is brought to you by PrimeCredit Limited.

With nearly five decades in the finance industry, PrimeCredit has built its reputation as one of Hong Kong's leading consumer finance companies. Behind its business success lies a strong belief that staff wellbeing, talent engagement and development are essential to long-term organisational performance.

In recent times, faced with economic uncertainty, intensified talent competition, rapid technological disruption, and growing pressure on staff wellbeing, PrimeCredit has prioritised enhancing its workplace experience, ensuring every staff feels supported both professionally and personally.

Whilst adhering to its two core principles: ‘Enjoy Work • Enjoy Life’ and ‘Caring and Togetherness’, PrimeCredit has thus reaffirmed its commitment to putting people first while cultivating a collaborative, empathetic, and inclusive organisational culture where every team member is treated like family.

This commitment has not gone unnoticed. PrimeCredit recently earned two gold trophies at the Employee Experience Awards 2026 for its outstanding staff-friendly workplace and high-impact engagement initiatives.

Supporting staff through 360° wellbeing

As a strong advocate of staff wellbeing, PrimeCredit has developed ‘PCL Wellness+’, a holistic framework covering six dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, environmental, and financial wellbeing. The strategy is supported by a dedicated wellness working team, direct staff feedback, active participation from management, and strong leadership commitment.

To bring this framework to life, PrimeCredit launched its flagship initiative ‘PCL Health Month: 360° Health Programme’, seamlessly integrating healthy habits into the staff daily work. Diverse activities included health talks, body composition analysis, health coaching consultations, fitness classes, fruit days, as well as meridian and acupoint massage. The programme achieved a resounding high staff participation and positive feedback.

PrimeCredit's commitment extends to staffs' families as well. Through its ‘Staff Caring Programme’, both staffs and their immediate family members have confidential access to professional counselling services to help navigate personal challenges. The ‘Children Tertiary Education Award’ also provides financial support when staffs' children begin their tertiary education journeys, firmly reinforcing the Company's family-oriented culture.

Complementing these initiatives are flexible working arrangements, flexi leave, wellness workshops, and other supportive programmes that enable staffs to excel at work while enjoying fulfilling personal lives.

Fostering belonging through care and purpose

Beyond wellbeing, PrimeCredit places equal emphasis on staff engagement.

Through the ‘Staff Relations Working Committee’, the Company maintains ongoing and direct dialogue with staffs across different departments and levels, ensuring its initiatives remain relevant, inclusive, and responsive to staff needs.

To foster staffs’ social network, PrimeCredit offers a vibrant mix of initiatives, ranging from volunteer programmes and community activities to festive celebrations, interest classes, and team-building events. Staffs are also encouraged to participate in community caring, through offering volunteering leave and reward programmes.

These combined efforts have cultivated a powerful sense of belonging and loyalty, reflected in an impressive average staff tenure of 11 years and consistently low attrition rates compared with market benchmarks.

Investing in future-ready talent

Recognising the impact of technological disruption on the financial industry, PrimeCredit has earmarked continuous learning as a key pillar of its staff experience strategy.

Through ‘PCL Academy’, the Company actively equips its staffs with the skills needed through a variety of talent development programmes, including onboarding curriculum, individual learning and development plans, leadership development pathways, management training, professional workshops, and graduate trainee programmes, supporting professional growth at every stage of their careers.

Looking ahead, PrimeCredit is committed to further enhancing support for mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing through highly personalised wellness initiatives and optimised hybrid work flexibility. The Company will also expand AI literacy through a structured curriculum and leverage advanced analytics to design personalised development plans that address skill gaps and further equip the workforce. Robust performance metrics and ongoing communication with all stakeholders will also be in place to track outcomes and receive continuous feedback.

Ultimately, all of these initiatives perfectly echo PrimeCredit’s promise, “We Get You. We Have Got Your Back” – a commitment that extends beyond customers to its staff. As Thomas Yu, Chief People Officer of PrimeCredit, emphasises: “To navigate today’s ‘BANI’ (brittle, anxious, nonlinear, incomprehensible) world, we must reshape our culture – by prioritising holistic wellbeing, championing workplace flexibility, and embracing diverse perspectives.”
