All sectors in Thailand urged to create a culture of safety at work

The nation's Permanent Secretary of Labour, Bunchob Suttamanaswong has encouraged all sectors to raise awareness and conscience in preventing accidents and diseases from work.

Marking 10 May as the National Day of Safety at Work 2023 through an event, Thailand's Ministry of Labour has urged employers across all sectors to create a culture of safety at work.

At the forum, the nation's Permanent Secretary of Labour, Bunchob Suttamanaswong (pictured above), encouraged all sectors to raise awareness and conscience in preventing accidents and diseases from work.

The annual event, which is commemorated in remembrance of a severe fire tragedy, sees events organised each year to make all parties involved aware of the importance of work safety and to encourage all sectors to focus seriously on work safety. Practice guidelines for safety measures in the workplace are shared, so that employers can implement of safety and health measures for workers in all professions.

Niyom Songkaew, Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare (DLP), noted that this year has seen special lectures from public and private speakers as well as the distribution of honorary certificates to 58 prototype enterprises that have been recognised as leaders in driving health in the workplace (known as the 'Happy Workplace' initiatives).

Further, the Department has collaborated with Thai Health Promotion Foundation) to organise a forum to exchange knowledge among safety officers from five prototype workplaces.
