AirAsia employee dies on flight to Bandung

AirAsia has confirmed that Flight AK416 bound from Kuala Lumpur to Bandung, Indonesia was diverted to Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru due to a medical emergency.

The passenger, an AirAsia employee who was travelling on the flight as a passenger, received immediate medical attention upon landing but was pronounced dead by an emergency doctor on the ground.

The release stated: “The AirAsia family is saddened by the loss of an Allstar and extends our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased. We will provide all necessary support to the family during this bereavement period.”

The aircraft departed from Senai International Airport at 9.00am and landed at Husein Sastranegara International Airport at 10.11am local time.

AirAsia Malaysia commented:  “The safety of our guests is our utmost priority and we strive to provide as much assistance as possible in these circumstances.”

Human Resources has contacted AirAsia Malaysia for further comments. However, out of respect to the family members, it is not able to provide any additional information.
