75% of staff say the boss is the worst part of their job

Three out of four employees say their boss is the worst and most stressful part of their job.

Yep. Bad bosses are not only terribly bad for business, but if they're horrible enough they also make employees want to quit en masse.

Research compiled by Officevibe also found 50% of employees who don't feel valued by their boss plan to look for another job next year. Although these statistics are US-centric, they wouldn't be surprising here in Asia either, given what we know about local disengagement levels.

"People can only take so much before they make a drastic decision that will change the outcome of their professional (and personal?) life," the survey said.

In fact, having a bad boss is so detrimental to staff, that 65% of employees would rather get a new boss than get a pay rise.

That seems like an incredibly high number, but perhaps the simple truth is that most employees just want to work in a place where they can happily get along with their work, without having the added stress of a bad manager.
