The company hopes its achievements will inspire other organisations. In this interview, the DITO Telecommunity Corporation team shares that the driving force behind its success is its vision to connect and empower Filipino communities. Putting people first shows that a strong culture and a committed workforce are central to sustainable growth and innovation.

Q What was the motivation that sparked your passion s business case for pursuing your outstanding people strategy?

At DITO, our people strategy is deeply rooted in the organisation’s core values and overall business objectives. We believe that by serving our people, we empower them to better serve our community with genuine malasakit, a commitment to disrupt the norm and status quo, and a drive for continuous improvement and innovation in our processes and employee programmes.

We have already disrupted the industry, driving positive changes and even pushing our competitors to do better. This momentum, rooted in our unwavering commitment to our values and to championing our employees, fuels our passion and forms the business case behind our strategy.

Q Looking back, can you share a challenge that you overcame in your journey of HR excellence? How did you triumph?

As a growing company, establishing ourselves in this competitive landscape was a leap of faith but a calculated one. One of the challenges we faced was building an organisational culture within a newly formed company composed of professionals from diverse backgrounds and work cultures.

To successfully implement multiple employee programmes and initiatives, the HR team and our supportive leaders worked hand-in-hand to ensure that every effort was sustainable and aligned with our vision. From the moment employees are onboarded, we’ve been intentional in fostering what we call the 'DITO experience', embedding our values and culture, and shaping what it means to have the DITO DNA.

We overcame this challenge through strong camaraderie and alignment of values and objectives from the top down.

In fact, we proudly call our employees 'Ka-DITO', a name that embodies togetherness and oneness despite different backgrounds, showing that at DITO, we grow and move forward as one.

Q Beyond the recognition, what impact do you hope your feature in the HR Excellence Awards would have on the HR community and manpower landscape?

DITO hopes to inspire other aspiring companies by showing that, even as a new player in the field, it is possible to excel and deliver the best service to both the organisation and its employees without breaking the bank. We also want to emphasise that it is imperative to know when to shift paradigms and time the release of programmes and initiatives. Change and evolution are part of growth, and we must always leave room for improvement.

Q Could you share some advice you would give to others aspiring to follow in your footsteps?

If anything, it would be:

  • Stay rooted in purpose: Stay rooted in purpose while leading with both head and heart, always aligned with vision and objectives, guided by data, and balanced with empathy and care.
  • Build for sustainability by prioritising culture: Design programmes and initiatives with long-term impact in mind and ensure every hire strengthens both capability and alignment with our values. This is why our people in DITO are not only highly capable, but also deeply connected to our culture.
  • Prioritise culture in every hire: This is why our people in DITO are not only highly capable but also aligned with our values.
  • Nurture and protect the culture: Recognise that culture is shaped every day by our leadership, teamwork, and shared celebrations while achieving the vision and goals of the organisation.
  • Foster common purpose and unity: Encourage everyone to see themselves as part of one team, moving together toward shared goals, no matter their background or role.

Q Let's talk inspiration! Who has been a driving force behind your success?

The driving force behind DITO’s continuous innovation and growth is its vision: to connect and empower Filipino communities — where data access is no longer a privilege, but a right for everyone. We are aiming to take the leaderboard in the industry through our excellent services and revolutionary digital innovations. This vision shapes not only the services we provide but also the culture we cultivate within the organisation.
