What you need to know before hiring globally

It's a difficult time for recruiters worldwide, and to make matters more complex, you are obliged to adhere to each different country's own distinct set of employment regulations.

"With more and more multinational companies expanding their footprint in Asia Pacific, the challenges associated with hiring the right candidate has increased," Matthew Glasner, managing director of south APAC at First Advantage, said.

So what do you need to know before expanding your organisation's footprint and hiring local talent from the different markets you operate from?

"Some of the key challenges in hiring suitable candidates are continually changing regional legislation surrounding anti-corruption, data privacy and consumer protection," Glasner said.

"The regular updating of the legalities in different countries complicates the background screening process, making it extremely difficult for the employers to perform proper background checks on their candidates."

According to Glasner, these complications "ultimately cost businesses a significant amount of revenue".

In the competitive war for talent, it is vital HR is able to meet all of the organisation's hiring needs without overly devoting time and resources to one sole area of recruitment.

At Recruitment Interactive 2014, Glasner - who will be an interactive table host for the topic of selection excellence - will share his expertise on hiring and exploring the plethora of hiring methods HR professionals can use.

Recruitment Interactive 2014 will be held on the 20th of November, at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore.
