[Update] Celebrity traveller arrested for alleged sexual assault of job candidate

Celebrity traveller James Hong is allegedly involved in a sexual assault case.

Last Wednesday [26 July], a 22-year-old university student reported to the police that he was kissed and touched in his private parts during a job interview the day before at an office on King's Road in North Point, Apple Daily reports.

A police source confirmed the arrest of a 47-year-old man at around 5pm yesterday at a building on King's Road. The man who is believed to be James Hong was released on bail later.

According to sources, the candidate met Hong at the Hong Kong Book Fair and was offered the interview opportunity for an unknown position.

Speaking to the press today at an event, Hong denied any wrongdoing and believed the court will provide him with a fair verdict, according to a report by Headline Daily.   He added there were crazy fans who stalked him and threatened to kill themselves if he does not grant them a meeting. But he did not clarify if the man who filed the police report against him was one of the crazy fans.

When asked if the police has restricted him from leaving Hong Kong, Hong responded he is free to go anywhere he wants and he will conduct business as usual.

Hong was at the book fair last Monday to launch his new book on cruise tours. He contributes travel columns to several local newspapers and was also appointed CEO of Gameone in 2013.

Hong's Facebook page was last updated yesterday, when he shared his experience visiting Brazil. Several people have left messages wishing him well and and showing support for him.

One commenter wrote "James, stay calm as Stephen Chan Chi Wan. I trust you", referring to the case of the former TVB general manager, who cleared his name this March at the Court of Final Appeal, ending a six-year court battle after he was initially convicted of taking bribes.
