Up the ranks: Lainey Yang takes on role of Head of People, North Asia, CBRE

Effective November 2020, Lainey Yang has been appointed Head of People, North Asia, at commercial real estate services company CBRE.

In this new role, Yang will lead the people function at CBRE in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, Japan and Korea, reporting to the SVP & Global BP and President, North Asia. She is currently still based in Singapore, but will be moving to Shanghai for this role shortly.

Most recently, Yang was Director HR, APAC, at global airline catering, retail onboard and equipment solutions provider Gate Group, based in Singapore.

Speaking to Human Resources Online, Yang shared that her responsibilities at CBRE would include providing strategic and operational advice to ensure the regional people solutions and initiatives support the delivery of the business goals in both short and long term; while also driving "best-in-class people solutions to continue to position CBRE as the employer of choice in the real estate sector."

On her number one priority in the coming year, Yang shared: "COVID-19 is accelerating change in a number of areas, including the ways we interact with each other. It’s more important today, than ever before, that we collaborate to leverage our unique skills, and come together to deliver exceptional outcomes."

Thus, she "will play an important role to help shape with our leaders a flexible working environment and inclusive culture as the business continues to evolve in the ‘new normal'", while also focusing on "attracting top talent within the industry and providing strategic solutions to the businesses."
