The top companies Singaporeans want to work for (and why)

It is perhaps no surprise that Google and Shell are the top two companies which Singaporeans want to work for, just like their counterparts in Malaysia.

But have you ever wondered why?

According to a recent survey by JobStreet.com, Google, Shell, Singapore Airlines, Exxon Mobil, and Keppel Corporation were cited as the top companies which Singaporeans want to work for, respectively.

The survey, which polled 940 employees across various industries in Singapore, found company reputation and standing is the number one reason attracting local job seekers to those organisations.

This factor was unanimously elected across all positions of employees, from fresh graduates to senior managers.

Benefits and incentives were chosen as candidates’ second reason, with the survey highlighting the need for companies to provide employees a balance between work and family/personal time.

Competitive salaries and opportunities for training and development came in third and fourth, respectively.

“Candidates see training as development opportunities to enhance their work skills for a better prospect in the long run,” the survey stated.

Claiming the fifth position was internal promotion prospects and career growth, which was identified as important for candidates to stay and grow in a company.
