The 10 most admired companies in China

The year 2014 is definitely the year of the technology and internet companies.

This is the fifth consecutive year internet companies have beat the traditional industries to monopolise the first place on the annual 2014 FORTUNE China's Most Admired Companies list, conducted by FORTUNE China and Hay Group.

In first place is Alibaba Group, which has become the world's second biggest internet company (behind only Google) after its IPO in the NYSE earlier this month.

In second place is Baidu, which has "unceasingly made business innovations and explorations by the means including alliances between giants", followed by Huawei Technologies in third place.

This all-star list doesn't just represent the trend of the online tech company in China, but also that internet enterprises are following strict strategic objectives of focusing on customers needs and leading through innovation.

"To walk out of China, and be a player in the global economy has always been the dream of China’s enterprises," said Chen Xueping, managing director of Hay Group China.

She added the theme across this year's list is "Dong" - to be wise and active, according to Confucius - which has become a lifestyle and strategy for many local organisations looking to maintain sustainability and seek new development.
