Shenzhen is adding five civil servants positions for Hong Kong and Macau citizens. It's the first time Shenzhen has opened jobs exclusively for the two special autonomous regions, according to a notice released by the Human Resources and Social Security department of the Shenzhen government.

Successful candidates will work in five professional fields respectively: Medical supervision, administrative management, urban planning, financial supervision and foreign-related management. The working locations of those posts are in Futian, Luohu, Nanshan and other downtown areas of Shenzhen.

The announcement aims to strengthen the ties within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and support "outstanding young people from Hong Kong and Macau who love the country and love Hong Kong and Macau".

An eligible applicant has to be a fresh graduate with a bachelor's degree and aged between 18 and 35. Additionally, he or she is required to be a Chinese national, and uphold the constitution, the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the socialist system.

He or she also has to pass a written test, a qualification review, a physical test and an interview.

Compensation and benefits have not yet been revealed. According to data shown on offcn.com, the monthly salary of civil servants in Shenzhen ranges from HK$8,250 to HK$17,680, with an additional housing subsidy of HK$2,828 to HK$5,422, plus a transportation subsidy of several thousand dollars. Online news portal HK01 revealed that the best monthly salary among the five positions is around HK$20,000.

"The opening-up of Shenzhen will not only help attract foreign talents to its civil service teams in the future, but will also help Shenzhen develop into an international innovation centre," said Liang Haiming, dean of the Belt and Road Institute at Hainan University.
