Say hello to 1,645 more Malaysian female leaders

A new programme by Malaysia's Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development has produced 1,645 female entrepreneurs between January 2012 and June this year.

Bernama reported the programme, which was conducted with Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, also produced 4,300 business women from 2009 to 2012.

"The opportunities provided by the government were catalysts to the efforts to increase the incomes earned by women through entrepreneurship so that they can have a more secure future," the ministry's Deputy Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said at the launch of the Pink Market Carnival Programme.

Azizah added the programme has also helped increase the earnings of low-income families to RM3,500 a month.
