Gradual recovery marked a large part of the economy in 2023, with companies across industries in Singapore cautiously increasing their workforce with moderate wage hikes. On that note, many employers ended 2023 planning to gradually ramp up hiring in 2024.

Although ongoing geopolitical tensions and a potential slowdown in China’s growth present challenges, there are signs that the downturn in manufacturing might be ending, with potential growth in 2024, as noted in Achieve Group's report, 2024 Singapore staffing & salary insights.

Easing inflation is also providing further optimism, and altogether, these positive indicators are creating opportunities for business leaders and HR professionals to invest in their human capital. With economic recovery expected to be gradual, 2024 is a crucial year for companies to develop their staff and build the necessary skillsets for future growth.
