Restructuring underway at Yahoo Singapore; pegged to new strategic priorities

The reported layoffs are expected to impact staff on the editorial and social media teams.

Yahoo has announced a shift in its editorial strategy in Singapore to "better align with strategic priorities".

In response to HRO's queries, a Yahoo spokesperson has clarified: "Readers can expect to continue seeing the content they most regularly engage with and enjoy.

"We remain focused on delivering a diverse selection of high-quality and engaging news, lifestyle and finance content, from local and international sources.”

The spokesperson did comment on queries on the number of roles affected by this shift, as well as outplacement support provided to affected employees, but HRO understands from reports by The Edge Singapore that a total of 17 staff on the editorial and social media teams will be laid off. They are expected to exit the company by 7 May 2024.
