Ranking: The top 25 most diverse and inclusive organisations in the world

Refinitiv has today announced the latest 2019 Top 100 most diverse and inclusive organisations globally, ranked based on the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) index.

The Index measures the relative performance of more than 7,000 companies that represent 70% of global market cap across over 400 environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data points. The companies are scored across four pillars: diversity, inclusion, people development, and controversies.

Only companies with scores across all four pillars are assigned an overall score (the average of the pillar scores). The top 100 ranked companies with the best overall scores are then selected for the index.

The pharmaceutical industry led the pack this year, with a total of 13 firms making the list, followed by banking, investment services and insurance with 11; telecommunications services with nine; and personal and household products and services with seven.

Globally, the top 25 most diverse and inclusive organisations are (with scores):

#1 Accenture (85.5) #2 Diageo (82.25) #3 Royal Bank of Canada (79.25) #4 Natura Cosmeticos SA (79.25) #5 BlackRock (78.5) #6 Telecom Italia SpA (78) #7 Novartis AG (77.75) #8 Allianz SE (77.5) #9 Gap Inc (76.5) #10 Kering (76) #11 Infrastrutture Wireless Italiane SpA (76) #12 L'Oreal SA (75.25) #13 UCB SA (75.25) #14 HERA SpA (75) #15 Merck & Co (74.75) #16 Thomson Reuters Corp (74.75) #17 Millicom International Cellular SA (SWE) (74.75) #18 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (74.25) #19 Woolworths Group (74.25) #20 Bank of Nova Scotia (74) #21 Toronto-Dominion Bank (74) #22 Nestle SA (74) #23 Roche Holding (73.75) #24 Acciona SA (73.75) #25 Star Entertainment Group (73.75)

Commenting on what's ahead for APAC countries in relation to this index, Debra Walton, Chief Revenue Officer at Refinitive, said although some APAC markets are more mature than others when it comes to ESG, it is gaining more momentum among businesses in the region.

"With increasing transparency in the reporting of social metrics it will offer opportunities for investors to better integrate ESG principles into the investment and strategy decision-making process."

"We have no doubt that more and more APAC corporations will be added to our Index in the years to come."
