Through short videos, workshops, and youth involvement, the GenAI XPonential programme aims to bring generative AI closer to Singapore’s SMEs in a way that’s practical, and future focused.
Prudential Singapore, in partnership with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), has launched a new initiative to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) better understand and adopt Generative AI (GenAI) tools.
Announced at the ATxEnterprise event during Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG) and supported by the Digital Enterprise Blueprint, the programme, titled GenAI XPonential, is designed with the aim to make the technology more accessible to the SME community.
At the heart of the programme are up to 10 bite-sized explainer videos and a series of four hands-on workshops, tailored to demystify GenAI and show how it can be used in everyday business operations. These resources will be co-developed and delivered by Prudential and its Talent Engagement Ecosystem (TEE-Up) partner, Republic Polytechnic (RP).
The first two videos, focused on GenAI-enabled Customer Engagement Chatbots and GenAI-enabled Sales & Marketing Content Creation, are now live on IMDA’s CTO-as-a-Service platform. The rest are expected to be rolled out progressively in the second half of 2025. For those wanting deeper insights, the workshops led by domain experts and RP’s lecturers offer SMEs a chance to explore GenAI applications firsthand.
This initiative builds on Prudential’s continued support for the SME sector, following earlier efforts such as the SME Skills Accelerator Programme and a 2022 digital commerce playbook produced in collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic and ST Engineering.

IMDA echoed this sentiment, with Johnson Poh, Assistant Chief Executive, Sectoral Transformation Group, emphasising the importance of building digital confidence among SMEs: "In today's fast-evolving digital landscape, it is vital to equip our SMEs with the tools and knowledge to harness GenAI effectively.”
As part of GenAI XPonential, Year two and year three students from RP were tapped on to co-create the explainer videos, guided by professionals from both IMDA and Prudential. This allowed them to apply their digital skills to real-world problems, while contributing meaningfully to Singapore’s digital transformation efforts.
"This collaboration exemplifies how industry and education can come together to empower both students and SMEs in the GenAI space,” stated Wong Wai Ling, Director of the School of Infocomm, Republic Polytechnic.
Supported by the National Youth Council, this collaboration sought to deepen students’ understanding of emerging technologies and give them a real-world platform to apply their skills meaningfully. It forms part of broader youth outreach efforts to help SMEs upskill, while encouraging knowledge-sharing across generations.
