PERKESO & USIM sign MoU to jointly strengthen efforts for people with disabilities to obtain equal rights and opportunities

Through this partnership, USIM will offer consultation and expertise in the field of research and innovation as well as synergy of training and knowledge transfer.

Malaysia's Social Security Organisation (PERKESO, or SOCSO) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) through the Ibnu Ummi Maktum Research Center (UMMI).

Sealed on Thursday (11 July 2024), this partnership hopes to further support efforts in empowering people with disabilities (OKU), and helping the community obtain equal rights and opportunities in society. It will see USIM offering consultation and expertise in the field of research and innovation as well as synergy of training and knowledge transfer to face the issues and challenges of OKU workers in line with PERKESO's goals and the social wellbeing of the community.

The MoU signing ceremony led by USIM Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani and CEO of PERKESO Group, Dato' Sri Dr. Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed, attended by members of the University Management Committee (JKPU) and PERKESO Top Management.

The ceremony also saw the introduction of the first edition of PERKESO's Braille Return To Work (RTW) Brochure, which was handed over to the Managing Director of KL Braille Resources, Dato' Haji Mah Hassan Haji Omar. The RTW brochure in Braille translation is believed to be able to continue to catalyse the placement of the OKU in the job market, and also drive socioeconomics.
