NTUC’s e2i launches 'SMARTER' initiative aiming to boost career support for senior PMETs

The new initiative aims to help mature workers navigate the evolving job landscape with tailored support and inclusive hiring pathways.

NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) has a new support system designed to empower senior professionals, managers, executives, and technicians (PMETs) in Singapore as they adapt to a changing workforce landscape.

Launched on 28 April 2025, the SMARTER Employment Eco-System brings together key strategic partners and employers in a collaborative effort to provide structured, step-by-step support for this group of jobseekers. The initiative seeks to help senior PMETs enhance their employability and find meaningful work opportunities, especially amid evolving job market.

Strategic partnerships to enable meaningful support

The launch included the signing of two memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with industry partners.

The first, with the SMARTER Enablers, includes organisations such as Enterprise Promotion Centres, Epitome Global, and Human Capital Singapore. This partnership aims to connect senior PMETs with industry leaders, job opportunities, and career development programmes.

The second MOU, with a group of First-Mover Employers including Ang Mo Kio – Thye Hua Kwan Hospital, Cragar Industries, and Montfort Care reflects a shared commitment to inclusive hiring practices. These employers have pledged to:

  • Offer interviews to eligible senior PMET candidates for current vacancies
  • Take part in employment-focused initiatives
  • Advocate for workplace inclusivity and age-friendly hiring approaches
