More staff step forward with abuse claims

The supervisor caught on camera physically abusing an intern has been identified amid further allegations of ill treatment by ex-employees.

The man, so far only identified as Alan, is a supervisor at software firm Encore eServices Shin Min Daily News reported. He has been accused of possessing an explosive temper.

Two former interns told the paper they “worked in fear” during their internship period with Encore, and had to endure scolding sessions which would last for hours.

“He listed down all my mistakes and made me feel worthless. I broke down in tears a few times,” one of the women, who wished to be identified at Ms Liang, said. She resigned after two months.

The second intern, who remained anonymous, quit after nine weeks at the firm, adding Alan was always threatening to terminate her contract.

Shin Min reported the male victim at the centre of the abuse video is a university graduate working as an intern at Encore and drawing a monthly income of $500, without bonuses or leave. His parents are also seeking $100,000 in compensation, and have rejected Alan's apology after they confronted him at the office following the viral video's.

According to Channel NewsAsia, the 29-year-old victim filed a police report on Monday, and the SIM intern who filmed the incident has been removed from the firm over security concerns.

Human Resources has so far been unable to contact the company for comment.
