Mercuri Urval to sponsor Recruitment Interactive 2014

Embracing diversity creates business results

2 October 2014, Singapore – Human Resources, organisers of Singapore’s leading Recruitment Interactive 2014 conference, is pleased to announce leading consultancy Mercuri Urval has confirmed its sponsorship of the event on November 20 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore.

Recruitment Interactive 2014 will share key insights into attracting and securing the best candidates amid a difficult war on talent. Topics covered include the future of Singapore’s labour market, candidate sourcing, technology and innovation, recruitment outsourcing, social media and selection excellence.

Jeannine Hertel, chief operations officer at Mercuri Urval, will join a panel of experts to talk about best practices and the importance of building a diverse and inclusive workforce.

"A diverse workforce is today’s business reality," Hertel says. "Globalisation and certain demographic developments are the main drivers. Instead of seeing it as a difficulty, organisations should embrace such diversity and understand it as a chance to serve an equally diverse customer base in the best possible way and to create results in business.

"But this only works if a diverse work environment is also an inclusive workplace."

Hertel adds that simply putting well-formulated policies in place to promote equality and diversity is not enough to truly achieve inclusion.

"It is mandatory to consider the individual strengths and development areas of each individual, and to let the people grow and contribute to a common purpose with their very own competencies."

Despite the age, gender, race, nationality, religion or belief, sexual orientation or social background of an individual, Hertel emphasises “it is the personality of each individual and how well this personality fits to the requirements of a corporate culture, business model and leadership culture to make sure a diverse team is a success and creates results.”

“Doing so is a leader’s responsibility and the right leadership can create an inclusive workplace within a diverse environment.”
