Media Prima offers "mutual separation scheme" to staff

Malaysia’s integrated media group, Media Prima Berhad, has announced the implementation of a mutual separation scheme (MSS) for all its employees.

Media Prima explained the scheme will function as a core element of the company’s rationalisation and consolidation strategy, and will help boost the company’s productivity and efficiency by reorganising its manpower strength in line with its business objectives.

The scheme will operate strictly on a non-obligatory basis and is expected to be completed by 15 December 2014.

The company added that as an integral part of the company’s long term business strategy, the scheme has been designed to make the media group more resilient against intense industry competition and increasingly challenging operating environment.

“The scheme also provides opportunities and benefits for Media Prima employees who want to pursue other interests outside the group,” it stated in a press release.

“The group will provide outplacement programmes for all employees who require assistance.”

It added that relevant authorities and employee unions have been informed on this exercise.

A spokesperson told The Malay Mail the group is targeting 10% of its workforce to accept the offer, regardless of their years of service within in company.
