Outstanding performers can receive an increase of up to 5%.
McDonald’s Hong Kong is kicking off 2026 by rewarding its restaurant management team with an average pay rise of 3%, effective 1 January. Individual increments will be performance-based, with outstanding employees eligible for up to a 5% increase.
To further show appreciation, the company will distribute HK$500 red packets to more than 12,000 frontline and office staff. An employee annual dinner will also be held from 23 to 25 February at AsiaWorld-Expo, spanning three consecutive nights.
This follows a milestone year in 2025, when McDonald’s Hong Kong celebrated its 50th anniversary with a series of exclusive activities to recognise employee dedication.
The company continues to strengthen its ‘B.E.S.T’ employer talent strategy, focusing on four key pillars to enhance employee experience:
Bespoke HR system
McDonald’s Hong Kong has implemented an AI-powered personnel management system, AI Crew Planner, which optimises manpower allocation based on restaurant needs and sets pay according to experience and location. This innovation reduces administrative workload and boosts operational efficiency.
Exclusive employee experience
Nearly 1,000 restaurant management team members attended the 2025 Operations Convention in Guangzhou to exchange best practices and broaden their horizons.
Employees also enjoyed unique experiences last July and September respectively, including the 50th Anniversary concert and an exclusive screening of Back to the Beginning in 1975, a microfilm inspired by the story of McDonald’s Hong Kong’s first restaurant manager.
Success celebration
Last year’s annual dinner at AsiaWorld-Expo welcomed nearly 8,000 employees and honoured over 500 long-service awardees, including 80 employees with 25+ years of service.
Talent development
Since 2023, McDonald’s Hong Kong has offered the industry-first 'Professional Diploma in Management Development (QF Level 5)', equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework. To date, 270 restaurant general managers have graduated.
The company also hosted Hong Kong’s largest ‘DSE Student Party’ for two consecutive years, introducing alternative career paths through interactive learning experiences. With nearly 8,000 employees under 24, McDonald’s is one of the city’s largest youth employers.
