Gathering data from the World Policy Analysis Center, the International Labour Organisation, and Globalisation Partners, resume.io provides an intriguing snapshot of vacation days, public holidays, sick leave, maternity leave, paternity leave and parental leave (broadly defined as time off) in 196 countries.

"Time off" is defined as any period of time in which a person doesn't have to work, but remains employed, regardless of whether they are healthy or not.

Of the countries surveyed, 31 have a total of 30 days paid annual leave, the highest globally. Cambodia, Iran and Vietnam have 27 public holidays each year, but of these only Cambodian workers get paid for the time off.

Working parents in Latvia are the most blessed by their government.  Latvian mothers are entitled to almost two years (658 days) of paid maternity leave, while fathers are entitled to about one-and-a-half years (556 days) of paid paternity leave.

Eight countries share the most number of paid days off for parental leave. Hungary, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova and Mongolia offer about three years (1,092 days) paid parental leave days.
