Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah urges society to "move quickly" to respond to Indonesia's demographic bonus

The Minister further encouraged collaboration between education and vocational training providers and the business and industry, which she deems key in facing the demographic bonus challenge.

Indonesia's Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah has urged all of society to immediately address the country's current demographic bonus.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Asy-Syarif Mitra Industri Vocational School in Mojokerto, Minister Ida emphasised that a quick response must also be made as the peak of Indonesia's demographic bonus is projected to occur in 2035. Following this, Indonesia is expected to begin to enter an aging population.

As the number of people of productive age will continue to increase over the next few years, the population of Indonesia's productive age is expected to reach 197.13mn people in 2025. In 2030, the population of productive age is predicted to reach 203mn people.

Against this backdrop, Minister Ida continues to encouraged collaboration between education and vocational training providers and the business and industry, which she deems key in facing the demographic bonus challenge. This will help to prepare skilled human resources according to industry needs, she noted.
