Malaysia’s richest revealed

Robert Kuok has once again been named Malaysia’s richest name by Malaysian Business.

Worth an estimated RM54.48 billion, businessman Kuok takes the top spot once again this year. He is followed by businessman T. Ananda Krishnan and Public Bank's Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow, both maintaining their second and third place rankings with estimated assets worth RM33.19 billion and RM18.07 billion respectively.

This year’s list saw the combined wealth of Malaysia’s Top 40 rise 11.73% to RM217.82 billion, from RM194.86 billion last year.

The report said the increase in wealth could be a result of Malaysia’s positive economic growth over the past 12 years, as well as better market and share performance.

Fourth on the list this year was Hong Leong Group and Guoco Group’s Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan, who is valued at RM14.11 billion, while coming in fifth place was Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng of IOI Group with RM13.12 billion.

Here are Malaysia’s top 10 richest individuals, and the full list can be found in Malaysian Business’s Feb 16th issue.
