KSM is now 'KESUMA': Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia has a fresh new name

Following the re-branding, KESUMA will officially be used for all matters related to the Ministry with effect from 4 March 2024.

Effective 4 March 2024, the name of the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia, also known as KSM, will officially be re-branded to 'KESUMA', after consideration and agreement during a Cabinet meeting last Friday (1 March 2024).

The name was derived from the initial syllable of each word of the Ministry of Human Resources [KEmenterian SUmber MAnusia] and is also an old Malay word for 'flower'. According to a press release by KESUMA, the beauty of the meaning of the word aligns with the Ministry's 3K strategic mission â€” to empower the welfare, skills, and success of employees.

In line with the strategic mission, KESUMA shared that it has managed to achieve the following accomplishments in the last two months:

  • Strengthened cooperation with trade unions,
  • implemented reforms on the institution of the Malaysian Industrial Court,
  • firmly emphasised workers' wage rights,
  • expanded the coverage of social security schemes,
  • improved the quality of skills training, and
  • implemented several measures to improve governance in all departments and agencies in the ministry.
