KESUMA to allocate about RM5mn to strengthen job readiness in 400 higher education institutions

The allocation of funds aims to enhance marketability of graduates and job seekers by integrating structured career guidance, skills assessments, and job-matching support directly within campuses.

Malaysia will allocate as much as RM5mn to strengthen graduate employability efforts across 400 higher education institutions nationwide, in a move aimed at tackling skills mismatch and enhancing job readiness among young Malaysians.

The allocation, announced by Human Resources Minister Ramanan Ramakrishnan, will be channelled through the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and implemented by PERKESO via the MYFutureJobs platform.

Effective April 2026, the initiative will be rolled out across public and private higher education institutions throughout the country with an aim to enhance the marketability of graduates and job seekers by integrating structured career guidance, skills assessments, and job-matching support directly within campuses.

The announcement was made in conjunction with the launch of the MYFutureJobs Career Exploration Centre (MYCEC), which leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality technologies through MYFutureJobs to provide career simulations, talent profiling, and data-driven job matching.

Supervised by PERKESO, MYCEC will initially be piloted in six institutes of higher education before expanding nationwide. The broader initiative is designed with an aim to address persistent skills mismatches affecting nearly 2mn youths. Speaking at the launch, the Minister said the government’s efforts must extend beyond digital platforms, so that talent is no longer lost, and every young person gets clear guidance before stepping into the workplace.

The event also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between PERKESO and RHB Bank, enabling MYFutureJobs to expand its reach to 618,000 active MySiswa RHB Debit Card users.

"MYCEC reflects the ongoing commitment of the Ministry of Human Resources and PERKESO in strengthening the alignment of talent with industry needs for sustainable economic growth and the future of a more competitive workforce of the country," PERKESO stated.
