More than 500 jobs are expected to be created in the next three years, with a priority to build a team of 200 IT staff for KBank's software development in the first year.
KASIKORN Business-Technology Group (KBTG) has established KBTG Vietnam, its second branch in ASEAN and third in Asia, with the aim to hire IT talent for market expansion in Vietnam and AEC+3 (ASEAN + China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea) countries over the next three years.
Aside from its IT personnel, Vietnam is also home to ASEAN's top students in the STEM fields, the group noted in a media release on 23 June 2023 (Friday). At the same time, it also took into account the cultural similarities between Vietnam and Thailand, thus positioning the new Vietnam branch to provide services in both Vietnam and elsewhere in the region.
Overall, this move is part of KBTG's goal to become a regional tech company by 2025.
KBTG Vietnam's priority this year is to recruit the first group of 200 IT personnel for the development of KASIKORNBANK's (KBank) software and international businesses, as well as upgrading the K PLUS Vietnam application – KBank’s flagship product with over 600,000 existing users, and major digital banking platform.
The team will also work to expand K PLUS to other countries across the region. These goals will be centred around the “3S” principles: Speed, scale, and sustainability, alongside the use of world-class software methodology and tech capability of high quality comparable to KBTG in Thailand, and application of case studies globally. To achieve this, KBTG Vietnam has established its second office in Hanoi to tap into potential tech talents, and to accommodate employees in different cities who prefer to work outside of Ho Chi Minh City.
Cited in the media release, Kattiya Indaravijaya, KBank Chief Executive Officer, explained the importance of the AEC+3 as a large consumer market, with the economy largely driven by a young populace. Moving forward, the growth of Vietnam's digital lifestyle sector will be the main push for KBank's regional growth, and its goal to expand its presence in the region to help broaden opportunities for Thai businesses, while providing a heightened service experience for local retail and SME customers.
Additionally, Voranuch Dejakaisaya, KBTG Executive Chairman, noted that to cope with the talent war in Thailand, KBTG has adopted a proactive strategy in recruiting high-caliber personnel to help drive KBank’s business expansion both domestically and regionally.
