Indonesia's MOM launches COVID Prevention Management Training Programme

Indonesia's Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, officially launched the COVID Prevention Management Training Programme (MangCovid) in Indramayu, West Java, on Wednesday (21 October).

In a press release, the Ministry of Manpower said MangCovid has three goals, namely the prevention of COVID-19 transmission; distribution of work for victims of dismissal; as well as assistance for people with disabilities and empowerment of MSMEs.

Through the programme, Minister Ida said participants will be able to become more independent in becoming entrepreneurs as well as MSME players. 

The participants are also trained to make new disinfectant equipment and become certified spraying services.

"In facing the COVID-19 pandemic, we are optimising the MangCovid programme. We need collaboration between the central government, local governments, and the private sector," she said.

On this occasion, the Minister also handed out assistance in the form of rapid tests and personal protective equipment, Jaring Pengaman Sosial (Social Safety Net, or JPS) employment, BNSP certificate, and the Ministry of Manpower's COVID labour certificate.

Minister Ida also noted that the Ministry of Manpower itself implements the JPS programme, which includes the development and expansion of job opportunities, consisting of the Independent Manpower programme for entrepreneurship creation and Intensive Work which aims to create jobs for the community through sustainable empowerment activities.

In addition, the Ministry of Manpower also implements Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) for workers / labourers registered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Employees Social Security System). Meanwhile, to maintain the continuity of business activities during the pandemic, the Ministry of Manpower has carried out promotional and preventive activities, including by issuing a circular on Business Continuity Plans in facing the pandemic , as well as the COVID-19 Transmission Prevention Protocol in Companies.
