Effective 11 December, both maternity and paternity leave in Hong Kong have been extended.
Maternity leave has been extended from 10 to 14 weeks – bringing it more in line with international labour recommendations.
Employers can claim a reimbursement from the Hong Kong government for any maternity leave pay that is payable for the additional 4 weeks' of maternity leave, capped at HK$80,000.
