HR Practitioner Appointments

Syed Ali Abbas takes up a senior HR role at Lazada GroupAbbas, previously the chief human resources officer for the erstwhile Pacnet, part of Telstra, is now executive vice president and head of general HR at e-commerce firm Lazada, while continuing to be based in Singapore. Prior to Pacnet, he has worked with AT&T across Singapore and India.

Swatch Group designates Rosana Yau as talent acquisition manager and HRBPBased in Hong Kong, Yau has moved from Neo Derm Group where she was assistant manager HR for close to one-and-a-half-years, to the watchmaking specialist firm. Her past experience includes the roles of internal recruiter at The Executive Centre and consultant HR at aimHigher.

Tanushree Das relocates to Hyderabad for a new HR rolePreviously the manager for customer relations at Krishnapatnam Port Company in Nellore, Das has moved to PamTen in Hyderabad as HR operations manager, effective May 2016. She is responsible for all HR and admin activities for the firm's offshore operations in India.

Philips nominates Joanna Maneckji to learning innovations and excellenceWith her speciality in learning design, Maneckji has been appointed by Philips as director of learning innovations and excellence, moving from her role as head of leadership learning channels at Standard Chartered Bank, where she tenured since November 2010.

Leading Thai seafood company appoints Shue Chung Chan as HR headThai Union (TU) has appointed Shue Chung Chan as the head of group HR, overseeing TU's global HR strategies and responsible for over 46,000 employees across four continents. Having been with TU since 2000, he now reports to Thiraphong Chansiri, president and CEO, while based in Thailand.

webe digital names Suhaimi Sulong as chief people experience officerFormerly known as Packet One Networks (P1), the rebranding telecom operator webe has named Sulong the chief people experience officer, previously the chief human capital officer for P1. While continuing to be based in Malaysia, Sulong has been with the company since August 2015.

Johnny Teo heads up Zuellig Pharma’s rewards and mobility functionAfter a two-and-a-half-year tenure with Allianz, Teo has joined the pharmaceutical company Zuellig as corporate head of rewards and mobility, HR, based in Singapore. He is driving initiatives such as job grading and salary structure, global mobility rules, and incentive plans, in this role.

Appointments at NovartisNovartis has recruited Kavita Raj as senior sourcing specialist, effective May 2016, based in Kuala Lumpur. She moves over from International Medical University, where she was corporate recruiter, prior to which she was talent acquisition consultant at Convergys.

Another appointment is that of Ann Alexander, who based in Kuala Lumpur, has been named sourcing specialist for Novartis. She moves over from BP, where she was a recruiter. She has previously also worked with Philip Morris International and Symphony House as part of the HR team.

Kerry Asia Pacific moves Roisin (Farragher) Foley up the ranks to VP HRHaving been with the food and drinks company since September 2013, Foley is now vice president of HR, moving up from her previous role as HR director for South East Asia, continuing to be based in Singapore. Prior to Kerry, she has worked with OpenHydro as HR manager, and Elan as VP HR.

Janice Foo appointed CTO for Publicis Media Greater ChinaJanice Foo has been appointed chief talent officer for Publicis Media Greater China, part of the Publicis Groupe, based in Shanghai. She moves from Publicis sister company Zenith Optimedia Group, where she was chief talent officer for Asia Pacific.

CtrlShift brings on board Cherry Choy as HR directorBased in Kuala Lumpur, Choy has taken up the role of HR director at the ad tech firm. She moves from PGi, where she was HR manager for Asia Pacific. She has also previously worked as HR executive at e-Cop, HR executive at The Lion Group, and HR/admin officer at Poh Yep Holdings.

Jennifer Yik engaged by China Mobile as assistant HR managerMoving over from GP Electronics (HK), where Yik tenured for close to five years, she is now assistant HR manager with telecom provider China Mobile Hong Kong, based in the city-state. She is a graduate of Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Faurecia Emission selects Nurhidayati Marzuki as HR managerMarzuki has moved to the emissions control firm based in Kuala Lumpur, from her previous role as senior human resources officer at Robert Bosch. In this new role, she is handling the full spectrum of the HR function, and has past experience with Agrobank and HSBC in the HR space.

HR Solutions Provider Appointments

TBC HR Consulting strengthens recruitment pipelineJason Huang, previously recruitment consultant with MCI, has been scouted by TBC HR Consulting as recruitment consultant, based in Singapore. His priority this year, he told Human Resources, is to get equipped and prepared to manage a team of consultants, apart from being responsible for the full spectrum of recruitment uptil senior executive / managerial positions.

Kashmini Prem Nyanasegeram commences work with AS White GlobalJoining the recruitment outsourcing firm, Nyanasegeram is based in Kuala Lumpur, and she moves from IBM Malaysia where she was talent search partner APAC. She has experience with recruitment firms, such as senior staffing consultant with Kelly Services and senior consultant with Randstad Sourceright.

Tazrinah Hussin becomes assistant manager HR for Goldbell CorporationHussin has taken up the progressive role of assistant manager HR for the vehicle leasing company, based in Singapore. She has moved over from Jardine Engineering Singapore, where she was assistant manager for human capital for more than five years.

Her priority in the new role is to streamline the HR processes in terms of payroll processing, while reporting to the senior manager HR. She added: "Not only to achieve value-added services to our stakeholders, but also successfully implement the new HRIS system."

"My new role also requires me to be a business partner and to provide value-added services to all business unit, with focus on managing HR policies and compliance issues," she told Human Resources.

Rao Wei (Billy) pursues career with LinkedIn's talent solutionsWei has joined LinkedIn China as talent solution sales manager based in Shanghai, responsible for selling the solutions to sectors such as internet, telecommunication and media. He moves from Mercuri Urval where he was consultant for more than two-and-a-half-years.

Angie Hubert is promoted to new role at IBM in SingaporeThe software solutions expert has moved Hubert up from the role of Smarter Workforce solutions consultant ASEAN, to talent acquisition, learning, and talent insights sales leader for ASEAN. She has been with IBM since June 2012, as part of Kenexa, in the learning space, and is now reporting to Jane Lim, business unit executive for ASEAN, as part of the enterprise social and smarter workforce team.

In conversation with Human Resources, she said she is really excited about and focused on sharing IBM's strategy of applying best practices from marketing to talent acquisition.

"Applying for jobs should be as easy as shopping online. Using IBM's marketing engine to find and nurture potential candidates, then applying analytics to understand candidate behaviour, will truly differentiate organisations looking to find top talent," she noted about her top priority.

Appointments in Korn Ferry Hay GroupFrom principal consultant since May 2014, Ineet (Narula) Barthwal is now senior principal, and she continues to be based in Singapore. She has been with the management consulting firm since joining as senior consultant in November 2009, and has also previously worked with SHL Singapore.

Smriti Parvatam commences senior role with Korn Ferry Hay GroupSmriti Parvatam has taken on the role of senior consultant, in a role that sees her relocating from Gurgaon to Bengaluru, within India. She has been with the firm since February 2012, and was most recently consultant.

Universum sees Diana Soon taking up consulting roleHaving joined the employer branding specialist firm this month, Soon is employer branding senior consultant for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, reporting to Henri Allegra, who leads the APAC consulting team. She moved from Standard Chartered Bank where she was manager for research and client insights, and has also worked with Platts previously.

She spoke to Human Resources: "My biggest priority is to get myself immersed with the solutions, clients, operations and culture of Universum. For me, the way to achieve this is to quickly establish relationships and networks, ask questions and roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty!"

Prerna Bajaj moves from Hays to PageGroupJoining the recruitment consultancy as consultant for the financial services sector, Bajaj was previously consultant for the banking sector at Hays, and has also previously worked with Drake International, Red Packet, Prudential Assurance, and Albert Wong & Co. She continues to be based in Hong Kong.

NGA Human Resources develops Weng Fee Chin to regional role for digital HR servicesChin, who has been with HR software solutions developer since March 2014 in Kuala Lumpur as HR consulting regional director APJ, has been appointed regional director for digital HR services APJ. His mandate is to lead client accounts and regional sales teams to them chart their journey to digital HR.
