HR Practitioner Appointments

Wendy Suen leads talent strategy for Omnicom Media Group in ChinaSuen has taken up the role of chief talent officer for Omnicom Media Group, China, the media services division of Omnicom Group. Based in Shanghai, she has moved over from TNS, where she was regional director HR for clients and expertise across Asia Pacific.

Diageo's Sarah Bowers moves from Singapore to Dublin in new roleDrinks major Diageo sees the relocation of Bowers, who in Singapore was the HR business partner for Southeast Asia. She moves to Dublin this month in the new role of global capability manager for corporate functions. She has been with the company since August 2015.

Rozie K Husin moves from Inpex Offshore to Setia Awan GroupJoining housing developer Setia Awan Group this month as HR and administration manager, Husin moves from her role as HR and administration head for Inpex based in Kuala Lumpur, to Damansara. With the setting up of the Group's new KL office, her role covers the full spectrum of the function, and she reports to the executive directors.

Parkson Edutainment World brings on board head of HRThe 70:30 JV in Malaysia between Parkson Corp, a unit of Singapore-listed Parkson Retail Asia; and Studio Kingdoms Network, has recruited Shahrul Armani Jaafar as the head of HR, based in the Parkson Maju Junction Mall KL. He was previously the head of HR for The Lion Group's mining division.

Candy Leung heads up Julius Baer's Academy AsiaAfter a 12-year tenure with Standard Chartered Bank, Leung has joined private banker Julius Baer as the head of JB Academy Asia, based in Hong Kong. Her most recent role at Standard Chartered was as the global head of talent classification and identification, part of group talent management.

Morgan Advanced Materials promotes Dave Kowal to thermal products divisionHaving been with the engineered materials' supplier since July 2011, Kowal is now HR director of its thermal products division, moving up from his previous role as HR director for Asia. In this role, he is responsible for HR at the executive level, reporting directly to the divisional president.

Rickly Long joins real estate management firm Colliers InternationalBased in Hong Kong, Long is now director for people and performance in Asia for Colliers International. He moves over from Atmel Corporation, where he was senior director of HR for Asia Pacific. He has previously also worked with Sybase and SAS.

Xiaojia Ng advances career with Neptune Orient LinesNg has been promoted to senior specialist for learning and organisation development, based in Singapore, moving up from specialist level for the same team, where as part of the global talent management team, she managed and supported the rollout of global projects to meet business needs.

Oraclesee appoints Czarina Divine Espiritu as HR assistantBased in Makati, Espiritu has taken up the role of HR assistant at Oraclesee. She moves from foodpanda, where she was recruitment officer. She has also previously worked as HR assistant at Pancake House Group, and as an HR intern with Kaisa Consulting.

Heng Zheng Lau takes up a senior L&D role at Mah Sing GroupLau, previously the senior executive for L&D at the property developer, is now assistant manager for L&D, while continuing to be based in Kuala Lumpur. His main task is to facilitate and grow the talent pipeline through projects such as LEAD (HIPO fast track programme) and others.

He told Human Resources: "My concern of today's talent is the possible mismatch between old school but historically-proven talent management strategies, and new experimental methods to accommodate the learning methods of the new generations. Appearing 'hip' does not necessary obtain results in the long run.

"Anyhow, it is the trend many new-generation companies are following especially in Malaysia (Smobble, Mindvalley, etc.) and 'older' companies too are trying to change towards that direction. But the truth is, everyone is still experimenting and see what works in this massive laboratory - which is a very interesting experiment to be part of."

HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Hughes-Castell attracts Sunil Dutta as APAC head of HR practicePreviously the director of ZW HR Consulting's HR search practice for APAC, Dutta joins staffing firm Hughes-Castell, based in Singapore. He has previously worked with en world group, Ortus, and Positive Moves Consulting.

Thomas Kwang CL commences work with Spencer-OgdenJoining the infrastructure and energy recruiter in the APAC oil and gas project services team, Kwang is based in Singapore, and he moves from PetroSync Global where he was part of the training and development team, delivering specialised programmes for oil and gas companies worldwide.

Tan Qian Li advances to become recruitment consultant at Astbury MarsdenTan has been with the recruitment firm that specialises in financial services, energy and business services clients since August 2015, and he was previously associate consultant. He continues to be based in Singapore for this role.

Evolution Recruitment Solutions moves Sathya Jayagopal up the ranksFrom senior executive search consultant for IT and applications, Jayagopal is now internal recruiter where her role is to source potential technology recruitment consultant to work for the firm's Southeast Asia business. She continues to be based in Singapore.

Cheryl See Toh joins Faraday Search in Kuala LumpurToh has taken on the task of regional managing consultant at the search firm that specialises in power, rail, construction and industrial automation sectors. She was previously principal consultant at Spring Professional, and has also worked with MRI Network.

HRnet One sees Mandy Law taking up senior roleHaving joined the talent acquisition and consulting provider in July 2013 as associate consultant, Law has been just been promoted from regional consultant to senior regional consultant. She is currently hiring for roles in FMCG, retail, telecommunications, and airlines industries.

Reenisya Rajaganapathe moves from Zealous APAC to BGC Group MalaysiaJoining the search firm as team lead for the information technology sector, Rajaganapathe was previously recruitment specialist at Zealous Asia Pacific, where she spent more than six years. She continues to be based in Kuala Lumpur.

ELMO Talent Management Software relocates Jessica Fenton to SingaporeFenton, who has been with the firm since May 2014 in Melbourne, has moved to Singapore as business development manager for the Singapore region. She was previously the head of client partnerships for the Southern region.

Amanda Ang is promoted to recruitment lead at Tentacle Technologies MSCThe software developer has moved Ang up from the role of IT recruiter in Kuala Lumpur since March 2015, to recruitment lead. She is responsible for achieving staffing objectives by recruiting and evaluating job candidates; advising managers; managing the relocation programme, among others.

Hays' Sophia Qiu commences talent acquisition for Jaguar Land RoverRecruiter Qiu has taken on the role of managing talent acquisition for Jaguar Land Rover in China, while based in Shanghai. Also with Hays, she was previously the on-site recruiting manager for Goodyear across Asia Pacific and China regions.

Pedersen & Partners names new regional client partner for Asia PacificThe executive search firm has appointed David Sewell to its Asia Pacific team, to which he commented: "I look forward to utilising my experience in this exciting region to help Pedersen & Partners bring the best talent solutions to our clients in order to deliver the best performance for their organisations." Gary Williams, parter and head of APAC, added: "With his wealth of cross-border functional and operational experience, we are confident that he will thrive in the executive search industry."

Suphanit Singhsachakul moves up to LinkedIn's marketing solutions businessAs account director of marketing solutions for Southeast Asia, Singhsachakul is focusing on Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam to leverage the platform for lead generation, brand awareness and content marketing, based in Singapore. She has been with LinkedIn since 2014.

Staffing firm Allegis hands over implementation role to Adam FraineFraine, who was previously the recruitment relationship manager (CSC Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines), is now implementation manager at Allegis Global Solutions, continuing to be based in Singapore. He has previously worked with Stratacon Professional Recruitment.

Victor Chan relocates from Singapore to Australia for role with Willis Towers WatsonPreviously with Mercer in Singapore as regional high technology industry business leader for AMEA, Chan moves to Melbourne as senior management consultant with Willis Towers Watson Australia. he has expertise in talent management, total rewards, and global grading system, among others.

Pico Global snags Steven Leung as training managerEvents services has brought on board Leung as training manager in Hong Kong. He continues to also work with training firm Life Master Consulting, where he has recently moved from the role of training director to training advisor.

Grace Lee bags a promotion at Morgan McKinleyFrom associate consultant - recruitment sourcer, Lee is now consultant with the staffing firm, based in Singapore. She has past experience across a number of organisations, including Optimum Solutions, Singtel, Diversified Technology Solutions International, among others.
