HR Practitioner Appointments

Promotion at CITIC CapitalRosanna Whong has been promoted to managing director in human resources and administration department effective 1 July 2017.  She joined the company in April 2008 as head of human resources. Prior to CITIC Capital, she has worked at SAP, Ernst & Young, Deloitte Consulting and other management consultant firms before with responsibilities covering the Greater China Region. She is based in Hong Kong.

SBM Offshore promotes HR business partnerCheryl Ong was promoted to the position in May, she joined the company in 2016 as a recruitment specialist. She has been serving in the human resources sector since 2012.  She is based in Malaysia.

Hang Seng Bank promotes trainerAngela Wong was promoted to learning academy manager at Hang Seng Bank with effect in July.  She has been with the bank since 2013, when she joined as a training manager.  She is based in Hong Kong.

Acson Malaysia strengthens HR teamCourney Chong was hired as human resources executive at Acson Malaysia in June. Prior to Acson, Chong served as human resources executive at Golden Screen Cinemas for more than three years.  Chong graduated in 2013 from Universiti Utara Malaysia with a degree in human resources management before starting her career in human resources.

New addition to the hiring team at Rémy CointreauMichael Zhang has joined the French-based alcoholic beverage company as talent acquisition manager in June. He started serving in the recruitment sector in 2012, including stops at Antal International, Spring Professional and Korn Ferry Futurestep. He is based in Shanghai.

Maples and Calder enhances hiring teamJeffrey Cheung joined the law firm as a multilingual regional recruiter in July.  He started his career in human resources in 2014, including HR roles at Hanergy Holding Group, Dah Chong Hong and China Mobile International.  He is based in Hong Kong.

Dover Corporation enhances recruiting teamMike Zhu joined the company as recruiter in June. He brings with him more than six years of experience in recruitment.  His previous appointment was talent specialist at Korn Ferry Futurestep. He is based in Shanghai.


HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Leadership appointments at Hitachi Data SystemsJoe Ong has been promoted to vice president and GM, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), ASEAN and Tan Chang Huong has been appointed managing director, Hitachi Sata Systems, Singapore, to grow market share within its core business while also delivering on the company’s goals for social innovation.

In his new role, Ong will be spearheading the overall ASEAN business portfolio. He has been with Hitachi Data Systems since 2012.

Tan Chang Huong will be responsible for implementing and driving Hitachi Data Systems’ transformation. Prior to his new role, Chang Huong was the district director who led the public sector team, driving strong growth in HDS’ defence and homeland security business.

John Torrey joins Qualtrics The former chief corporate development officer for SAP and EVP of corporate strategy for concur technologies, John Torrey joined Qualtrics in July as head of corporate strategy, corporate development, and business development. In the new role, his responsibilities include Qualtrics' strategic planning, partnerships and M&A initiatives.

Heidrick & Struggles welcomes Jimson ChengBring with him nearly 15 years of executive search and leadership consulting experience in the Asia Pacific region, Cheng has joined the firm as partner in the healthcare and life sciences practice, based in Singapore. Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, Cheng held a variety of leadership roles in a number of renowned organisations within the healthcare sector, including Abbott and Baxter. He started his career at Temasek Holdings within a subsidiary focused on biotechnology.

New director at ABEO ConsultingPrem John joined ABEO Consulting as director, legal and compliance in June.  He will be responsible for leading the in-house legal and compliance practice with a strong focus on the private equity, funds, family office and financial services sectors.

With more than 10 years in recruitment, John is a legal & compliance head-hunter and career-strategist.  His previous position was principal- legal and compliance at Cobalt Recruitment.  He is based in Singapore.

ManpowerGroup Singapore welcomes career services managerJenson Teo was appointed the role in June.  He is a seasoned sales professional.  Previously he was a business development manager at Adecco Group, he helped the group manage the new client acquisition process for a Fortune Global 500 human resources solutions provider. He is based in Singapore.

Anita Chan expands her role at Dorsett Hospitality InternationalChan was appointed  general manager of Dorsett Wanchai, Hong Kong, Cosmo Hotel Hong Kong and Dorsett Mongkok, Hong Kong with an additional role as senior vice president of brand marketing.

In this additional role, she will form part of the Dorsett Hospitality International’s corporate executive committee team member and will play a strategic focus on brand marketing, customer relationship management and channel marketing in website management.

She joined Dorsett Hospitality International in March 2005 as general manager for Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong and Cosmo Hotel Hong Kong. She is based in Hong Kong.

Bryan B moves to The Boston Consulting GroupAfter more than 10 years at IBM, serving in various human resources roles, Bryan B made the move in July to The Boston Consulting Group to serve as their AP consulting recruiting operations leader.  In his new role, he will lead and support the exciting global and regional recruitment initiatives in the Asia Pacific region. He is based in Malaysia.

New team lead at McKinsey & CompanyThomas Watling joins the company as team lead after spending a year with Ambition as managing consultant- digital & high-growth tech.  Watling started his career as a recruitment consultant in 2014 as a consultant for the technology sector with Michael Page. He is based in Malaysia.

Wilmer Tai joins PotentioWilmer Tai was appointed in June as recruitment consultant.  She has more than 5 years of experience in recruitment including stops at Cheil Global Network and Firebrand Talent.  She is based in Malaysia.

Senior appointments at CartusFiona Williams as joined leading provider of global relocation services Cartus as director, strategic business solutions in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. A seasoned sales and business development executive with nearly 15 years of experience in the relocation industry, Williams will focus on providing corporate solutions to multinational companies with global relocation programmes.

Based in the UK, Williams was most recently the group director strategic development & innovation for a relocation services provider, based in the UK and Hong Kong.

Mark Sonders was appointed senior vice president of global sales and marketing. Sonders joins the company with over 20 years in business-to-business sales and leadership roles. He will be based in Cartus’ worldwide headquarters in Danbury, Connecticut.
