HR Excellence Awards: New judges revealed

To excel in a fast-paced and dynamic field like human resources management is not easy. It requires innovation, leadership, and results – elements that the judges of HR Excellence Awards, Asia's most respected awards recognising &celebrating excellence in outstanding human capital strategy, will be looking for this year.

This is echoed by the newest additions to the HR Excellence Awards 2016 jury: established leaders from major companies in Asia, such as Alliance Bank, BAE Systems, Crimson and Gap.The prestigious awards ceremony will take place in Malaysia on 4 October, in Hong Kong on 6 October, and in Singapore on 19 October.

“The HR Excellence Awards 2016 is not only a showcase of outstanding talent and genius initiatives but also a symbol of progress in the industry,” said Aditi Sharma Kalra, regional editor of Human Resources magazine. “Each member of the jury has their own expertise and unique abilities, but they are all exemplars of professional excellence.”

Here are the latest additions to the HR Excellence Awards 2016 jury:

Emily Wong is known as a people developer. She brings her has extensive experience in talent management and development to her role now as head of organisational development & learning department at Alliance Bank.

Before joining the bank, she has worked with a top learning institution in Australia, a large media company in Singapore as well as several other financial institutions. Her passion lies in promoting leadership excellence, culture change and generating a strengths-based culture at work. Wong is certified as an accelerated strengths coach as well as an instructional systems designer.

As the current HR business partner for BAE Systems, Vikram Anand supervises strategic and operational HR initiatives and leads improvement within business HR, recruitment, talent development, and global mobility function.

Anand formerly served as the head of performance and talent management at AirAsia and worked with HSBC Software Development Centre in India and Malaysia spanning different roles and positions in HR. His areas of expertise are recruitment and core HR and keeping the human element intact in strategic business decisions.

The great results of the people strategies at the CrimsonLogic Group can be largely attributed to Sylvia Koh’s leadership. As CrimsonLogic’s chief people officer, Koh is responsible for planning and implementing workforce programmes globally as well as initiatives in organisational & talent development and succession planning.

Prior to joining CrimsonLogic, Koh worked at Jardine Lloyd Thompson Limited in Hong Kong as the regional director of human resources for Asia for close to three years and at Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance in as business services director overseeing human resources, IT, business operations and the global business network across Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing.

Laura Parkes has managed HR teams across North America, Europe and Asia. She has been exposed to various industries, such as business consulting, telecommunications, retail and manufacturing.

Today, she is the senior director human resources at Gap Inc and HR business partner to Gap Inc’s executive vice president for global supply chain and product operations, managing HR activities across international sourcing locations for all of Gap Inc’s brands. Before she joined Gap, Parkes worked several years at Avery Dennison developing and supervising their global talent acquisition function.

Some of the other companies represented on the HR Excellence Awards 2016 jury are Agility, Cisco, Citi, DKSH,McCann Health, Watsons, and many more. All judges, such as Sue Anne Lee, vice president for human resources at Volvo Trucks, are director or vice president level HR professionals with regional responsibility.

Past HR Excellence Awards winners are a who’s who of the most respected HR teams in Asia –American Express, ANZ, British American Tobacco, DBS Bank, Galaxy Entertainment, HIS Global, Hong Kong Broadband Network, Inland Revenue Board, IPG Mediabrands, Leaderonomics, Lumileds, Manulife, Maybank, Mitsubishi, National Environment Agency, Schneider Electric, Sime Darby, Singtel, Unilever and many more have all proudly accepted HR Excellence Awards trophies over the past six years.
