How to renew your Malaysia passport online [Jan 2023 update]

Those interested may do so in six steps.

The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) has shared an update that Malaysians looking to renew their passports may do so online in six steps.

1. Visit the MyOnline Passport portal

The MyOnline Passport services portal can then be accessed here.

2. Complete the application information

Applicants must fill in all the required information on the online application system.

3. Upload a picture

Applicants are to upload their passport-sized photo onto the portal. The uploaded photo should meet the necessary specifications.

*Make sure the blue circle covers the face and the yellow circle touches the applicant's cheek.

4. Online payment

Applicants are to then make the payment online via credit card, direct debit (FPX), or online banking.

5. Visit the online appointment system (STO) portal

Upon completing the previous steps, applicants must make an appointment online through the STO link provided in the MyOnline Passport application status notification.

Upon applying on the STO, applicants will then have to head down to the collection office for their fingerprints. Passports will be processed on the same day.

6. Passport collection

Applicants are required to bring the necessary documents when visiting the selected passport issuing office:

  • original identity card
  • original birth certificate
  • original passport
  • payment receipt
  • STO appointment slip
