Foreign travellers from 10 countries can now use the e-gates at Malaysia's KLIA & KLIA2 immigration

Travellers (excluding permanent residents and long-term pass holders) are to submit their Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) three days prior to arrival.

According to the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM), the autogate (e-gate) system facilities at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will now be open to eligible foreigners travelling to and from Malaysia.

Per a report by NST, Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said this extension aims to address congestion precipitated by the long waiting queue for travellers at the immigration clearance point. 

It should be noted that this applies to arrivals and departures via KLIA and KLIA2.

Who is eligible for Malaysia's autogate facilities at KLIA and KLIA2? 

Visitors must be from the following 10 countries:

  • Australia
  • Brunei
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • New Zealand
  • Saudi Arabia 
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • United States
  • United Kingdom

Passports must be valid for at least six months.

Trravellers (excluding permanent residents and long-term pass holders) are to submit their Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) three days prior to arrival, JIM shared.

Registration process

Pre-enrollment

  1. Before arriving in Malaysia: Complete and submit MDAC within three days prior to arrival in Malaysia.
  2. First visit: Enroll and verify your passport at the manual counter.
  3. Departing Malaysia via the autogate: Upon completing the above, travellers are now eligible to use the e-gate for departure after successful enrollment. 

On subsequent visits

  1. Before arriving in Malaysia: Complete and submit MDAC within three days prior to arrival in Malaysia. This applies to every visit.
  2. Arriving and departing via e-gate: Travellers may now go through arrival and departure using the e-gate.
