This is based on the number of job roles advertised in the three months prior that came with a dog-friendly office.

The UK has been ranked as the best place to work if you’re a dog owner, in a new survey by Flexa, which took into account the number of job roles advertised in the three months prior that came with a dog-friendly office. As such, the UK saw almost two in three vacancies advertised (64%) citing a dog-friendly workplace.

This compares to just over a quarter of job advertised in Spain (27%) and France (28%) with offices that welcome dogs. Ireland was at the bottom of the list, with just 17% of jobs offering a dog-friendly workplace per their job roles data.

The following is the ranking of dog-friendly places as derived by the percentage of roles offering a dog-friendly office:

  1. UK - 64%
  2. Germany - 45%
  3. USA - 42%
  4. Australia - 32%
  5. France - 28%
  6. Netherlands - 28%
  7. Spain - 27%
  8. Ireland - 17%

Molly Johnson-Jones, dog owner and Co-founder at Flexa, commented: "Flexible work is about more than just four-day working weeks and work from abroad schemes. It’s also about having the freedom to balance your job with the other responsibilities, commitments and priorities in your life. Our data shows that if you have a dog, you no longer need to choose between your career and your four-legged friend in the UK."

Cameron Humphreys, User Support Specialist at Accurx (a dog-friendly employer) said: "Having dogs in the office makes it easier to be active, by encouraging you to step away from the desk and exercise during the day when you may not usually."

Also from Accurx, Hannah Barker, Associate Product Marketing Manager, added: "They give you a little break from the work day, seeing and petting a dog in the office is such a blissful little escape. They also get you talking to people in the office who you might not work with regularly which is awesome too."
