Cathay Pacific reportedly offers three-month voluntary unpaid leave to cabin crew

The airline said the initiative is “entirely voluntary”, and aims to provide cabin crew with “greater flexibility” in planning their work schedules.

Cathay Pacific Airways is reportedly offering its Hong Kong-based cabin crew the option to take three months of voluntary unpaid leave, according to a report by the South China Morning Post.

As cited in an internal memo circulated to staff, applications are now reportedly open for the fourth quarter of 2025, covering the period from October to December.

The airline told the media that the initiative is “entirely voluntary on a short-term basis”, and is meant to give cabin crew “greater flexibility to meet their personal needs, especially with the year-end festive season approaching”.

As reported, this marks the second round of the initiative, following a similar offer made for the July to September period earlier this year.
