Asia’s job hopping hobby

Bad news for bosses: Employees are still considering their next move, even if they’ve just settled into a new job.

Because 43% Singaporean workers are constantly open to new opportunities and 35% are actively looking, they are always updating their online CVs through jobsites via mobile devices.

In Hong Kong, 37% are actively looking while 44% are open to possibilities, and in Malaysia, 36% are looking while 41% are exploring. Almost half of employees (48%) in Thailand are passive jobseekers while 35% are active jobseekers.

According to a report by JobsDB, there has been a 266% increase between January 2011 and January 2013 in the number of jobseekers using mobile devices to access its online portal.

“I guess we should not be too surprised that the mobile revolution has extended rapidly into the working lives of young Asians. In many ways it reflects the vibrant, growing economies of the countries surveyed,” Adrian Chng, group chief executive officer of JobsDB, said.
