Google, Singapore Airlines and PricewaterhouseCoopers have topped the list of Asia Pacific’s ideal employers among business undergrads in Singapore.
This is the fifth consecutive year Google has been recognised as the most ideal employer for business students in Singapore, according to Universum’s APAC Top 50 Ideal Employer Rankings 2013.
The survey also found the three most ideal employers for students in the engineering and natural sciences field were A*STAR, Google and ExxonMobil.
A total of 6,012 people participated in the survey this year, while 17,878 individual employer evaluations were conducted.
Singapore Airlines was the only local company in the top 10 for business students, while the engineering and natural sciences top 10 list saw four local organisations, including A*STAR (1st), Singapore Airlines (4th), Ministry of Education (8th) and Keppel Corporation (10th).
Within APAC, the top three ideal companies for business students were Apple, Google and Goldman Sachs, while engineering students preferred Google, Apple and Microsoft.
“With the diversity of the Asia Pacific region, I would still recommend employers hiring in each market to understand specifically what makes their talent pool there tick," said Rachele Focardi, senior VP of employer branding and talent strategy at Universum APAC.
"Although being in ‘a friendly work environment’ is generally appealing, this attribute would trigger stronger response from those in Australia, India, Hong Kong and Singapore."
In contrast, she said Japanese students pride ‘challenging work’ while their peers in China seek ‘good reference for future career’ and ‘high future earnings’.
